Moncton's Marriott Hotel among Green Award winners

Moncton's
new Marriott Hotel on Main Street was among the winners this week as
Enbridge Gas New Brunswick handed out its annual Green Awards in Saint
John.
The Green Awards recognize Enbrige customers for the
positive impact they have had on the environment by reducing greenhouse
gas emissions from their business and households.
The 2008 Green
Awards were presented to: Thierry LeBouthillier (Residential Retrofit);
Bird Holdings (Small General Service Commercial); Saint John Port
Authority (General Service); Marriott Hotel in Moncton (Contract
General Service); Colpitts Developments (Residential New Home
Construction); Hoadley Engineering Inc. (Innovation award); Crombie
REIT (Leadership) and Keleigh Annau, Founder of Lights Out Canada
(Student Award).
Enbridge Gas New Brunswick has nearly 10,000
customers and services nine municipalities in southern New Brunswick,
including Dieppe, Fredericton, Moncton, Oromocto, Riverview, Sackville,
Saint John, St. George and St. Stephen.
GMCC seeks Excellence Awards nominations
The
Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce is now seeking nominations for the
annual Excellence Awards, which will be handed out during a ceremony on
Oct. 28. The awards encourage entrepreneurship in the Moncton region.
Nominations
are now being accepted for the categories of Excellence in Business,
Emerging Business, Innovation, Marketing, Community Service (sponsored
by the Times & Transcript), Service Excellence and Young
Entrepreneur. Nominations will be accepted until June 19, by e-mail at
services@gmcc.nb.ca, or by fax at 857-9209.
Fundraising seminar June 24
Non-profit
groups looking for insight on how to carry out a successful fundraising
campaign are invited to attend a seminar June 24 presented by Mike
Paquet of People First Resource Development.
The seminar
"Launching Your Fundraising Campaign" will be held June 24 from 10 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. at the Moncton Lions Community Centre, 473 St. George
Street, Moncton. Cost is $100. Paquet has helped many community and
non-profit groups in Southern Ontario implement long-term fundraising
and resource development programs. He will speak about building a case
for your cause, how to identify donors, the fundamentals of asking
donors for money and the importance of treating donors as stakeholders
in your cause.

RBC Riverview holds food drive
RBC
Riverview welcomes non-perishable food donations for the Albert County
food bank until June 12. On average, the Albert County Food bank
supports 145 households a month in our local area. Any donation is
greatly appreciated. Together, we can help fight hunger, provide hope
and create a better Canada.

Winegarden Estate brings new taste to Cheers
The
Winegarden Estate of Baie Verte has entered into a pilot project with
Cheers Beverage Room in Moncton to provide taste tests of its new
Blueberry Spritzer on tap during the month of June.
The new drink
is a carbonated Blueberry Wine with seven per cent alc./vol., described
as "crisp, fresh and surely to satisfy your taste."
Cheers is located on Brandon Street, off Mountain Road behind Rinzler's Meat Market.
Winegarden
is a locally owned and operated Cottage Winery & Distillery located
in Baie Verte (near Port Elgin), which features more than 70 products
produced and sold on site from locally grown fruit and grapes.
UdeM prof wins award
Gérard
Poitras, professor of civil engineering, is the recipient of the
2008-09 Université de Moncton Excellence in Teaching Award. The
presentation was made during the convocation ceremonies held recently
at the Moncton campus.
